Artee was born to parents who made up her name from the initials of their first names – ‘R’ and ‘T’. They didn’t know that ‘Arti’ was already an Indian name meaning ‘Prayer’ or ‘Worship to God’; ‘Artie’ was short for the boys name ‘Arthur’; ‘Artee’ rhymed with way too many things and would consequently cause a fair amount of childhood teasing; or that coincidentally she would actually turn out ‘Arty’ and eventually go on to study Art Foundation at the University of the Arts London and graduate from Kingston University with a degree in Graphic Design & Photography.

Had they had known this they might have chosen differently. Most likely something associated with ‘Lawyer’ or ‘Doctor’.
